(EAST FALMOUTH, MA) – Falmouth Country Club – managed by Billy Casper Golf – has been designated a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” for its high standards protecting the environment and preserving the natural heritage of golf.
In attaining certification from the conservation group Audubon International, Falmouth’s 27-hole layout successfully maintains sound environmental practices in six key areas: environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, outreach and education, chemical use reduction, water conservation, and water quality management.
“It’s important we provide golfers with healthy playing experiences,” says Bucky Hall, Golf Course Superintendent at Falmouth. “Working with Audubon International, our maintenance staff has a deep awareness of the course’s ecological impact on our surroundings.”
“We’re proud of all Billy Casper Golf courses enrolled in this prestigious program,” says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG. “The leadership and agronomic teams at Falmouth – led by Matt Burgess, Bucky Hall and Maureen Hall – are commended for their steadfast commitment to create and maintain sound environmental practices.”
More than 90 percent of the 111 BCG courses are enrolled in the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program.
Following the Audubon International-approved steps for an environmentally-friendly golf course reduces waste and promotes efficient operations. An effective program results in a reduction of maintenance costs, including insurance premiums, energy, water, pesticides, fertilizer, equipment wear and labor.
Located in close proximity to the beaches, cranberry bogs and other natural wonders of Cape Cod, Falmouth Country Club is a challenging 27-hole, golf course open to the public year-round. Golfers walk and ride the 18-hole, par-72 “Championship Course,” or enjoy the nine-hole, par-37 “Talon Course.”
The sporty, 18-hole Championship Course is a “shot-makers” layout, rewarding golfers who keep their ball in play. Flat terrain with quiet, tree-lined fairways and sprays of beach grass garnishing bunkers, the course keeps golfers focused from tee-to-green with immaculate and undulating putting surfaces. Many flock to experience the signature, 516-yard, par-5 No. 10 hole that’s home to one of the largest Osprey nests regionally.
Falmouth Country Club has a fully-stocked golf shop and snack bar ensuring golfers are well-supplied and well-fed. A back patio overlooking the Talon Course enables golfers to enjoy relaxing, post-round beverages. There is seating for up to 60 people indoors and an additional tent area for up to 180 people, making the club an ideal location for social gatherings.
