Zach Johnson, also wearing SYNR-G golf shoes, finishes runner-up at John Deere Classic
Fairhaven, MA – With his three shot victory at the John Deere Classic, Steve Stricker wrote the latest chapter in the season-long success story for the new SYNR-G golf shoes from FootJoy. Following a stellar 61 on Saturday that moved him into contention, Stricker was three shots off the lead heading into the final 36 holes on Sunday. Just as he’s done all season, Stricker trusted his SYNR-G shoes for the marathon final day. He posted a 3-under 68 in the morning and saved his best for last with a final round bogey-free 7-under 64 to capture his seventh career PGA TOUR win.
The victory is Stricker’s second this year and second in SYNR-G, following his win at the Crowne Plaza Invitational in May. In fact, SYNR-G has been the golf shoe of choice for several champions over the last nine months as more and more players each week gravitate towards the world-class combination of comfort, style and stability.
Zach Johnson trusted SYNR-G shoes for his runner-up finish at the John Deere Classic and also when he won the Valero Texas Open earlier in the year. He is just one of many success stories since the shoes launched in January.
Davis Love III – Became the first professional to win wearing SYNR-G when he captured the Children’s Miracle Network Classic in October wearing a prototype pair of the shoes. With just one bogey in 72 holes, Davis secured a lifetime exemption on the PGA Tour by capturing his 20th win.
Jerry Kelly – Rallied with two birdies on the back nine to capture the Zurich Classic by one shot for his third career victory.
Zach Johnson – Survived a Texas-style shootout in which seven players were within one stroke with four holes remaining to successfully defend his title at the Valero Texas Open in a playoff. Vaulted into contention with a third round bogey-free 10-under 60.
Michael Allen – Turned a special invitation from the PGA of America into a major championship, making a clutch birdie on Canterbury’s brutal 18th hole to win the 70th Senior PGA Championship and become only the second player ever to win the Senior PGA in their Champions Tour debut.
Steve Stricker – Chipped in for birdie on the 17th hole during his final round to get him into a three-man playoff at the Crowne Plaza Invitational. Hit his approach on the second extra hole to three feet and made the birdie for his fifth career win.
Michael Hoey – Northern Ireland’s Michael Hoey overcame a five shot deficit in the final round to claim his first European Tour victory in a playoff at the Estoril Open de Portugal.
