Event will Benefit Five Oakland-based Youth Golf Programs; Ace Kids Golf- Lake Chabot Jr. Golf Academy- Metropolitan Jr. Golf Program- Oakland Turfgrass Education Initiative and The First Tee of Oakland
Oakland, CA- The “Googie & Friends” Fundraising Committee is pleased to announce its annual charity golf tournament slated for Monday, August 10, 2009 at Metropolitan Golf Links, located near the Oakland International Airport. This team-scramble event is open to the general public and kicks off with registration at 6:30 a.m., followed by warm-up time on the range with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
This charitable tournament is all about collaboration and community youth. Funds raised from the event benefit five worthy golf programs based in Oakland, Calif., which include: Ace Kids Golf, Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy, Metropolitan Junior Golf Program, Oakland Turfgrass Education Initiative and The First Tee of Oakland.
“The Googie & Friends tournament is about coming together to raise funds in support of local youth programs and initiatives associated with golf,” stated Gary Carls, CEO of the Oakland Turfgrass Education Initiative. “The five golf-related organizations involved with this event really care about kids and community, and together we will continue to make a difference in the lives of youth through the game of golf.”
Entry fee is $125.00 per person which includes green fee, shared cart, prizes, lunch and a Googie-Goody bag. Awards will be presented to the top two places in three flights. For those who want lunch only, the cost is $20.00. Registration deadline is July 21st.
