PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, July 20, 2009 – The 2009 EWGA Championship presented by Callaway Golf is in full swing. This is the second year that Callaway Golf has served as presenting sponsor for what is considered the largest amateur women’s golf competition in the United States.
More than 120 local chapters of the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) from throughout the United States and Canada are conducting chapter championships. Winners compete in 15 semi-finals to earn the right to play in the 36-hole championship finals at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida on the Ryder and Wanamaker Courses on September 25 – 26, 2009. Now in its 14th year, this annual competition had over 2400 participants in 2007 and 2008. This year’s participation is on target to exceed 2400 competitors.
On September 27, a Callaway Golf Sunday Fun Day tournament will be held for the many EWGA members and guests who attend the Finals to support the competitors. The four-person team best ball event also is open to championship competitors and will be played on the Dye Course. A USGA handicap is not required to play in this event.

Beginning at the chapter level, EWGA members compete in individual stroke play in five flights based on USGA handicaps and a scramble team competition. Low gross and low net winners in each flight and the low net scramble team then compete in one of 15 semi-final competitions held throughout the United States. The first place low gross and low net winners in each flight, the low net scramble team and last year’s championship winners then compete in the 36-hole final.
