Miami, Fl (July 21, 2009) — Jackie Burke is a true legend of the game. Winner of the 1956 Masters and 1956 PGA Championship, Burke also played on five Ryder Cup teams, won 16-times on the PGA TOUR, was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1999, and co-founded one of the most famous Golf Clubs in the world – Champions Golf Club in Houston, TX.
Starting tonight on www.thegolfersnation.com, “Classic Conversations” featuring Jackie Burke begins its run. Tonight’s edition is the first of a series of shows featuring Burke.
“Classic Conversations” is hosted by world renowned golf professional Jim McLean. Currently ranked as the No. 4 Teaching Professional in the world by Golf Digest, McLean also operates the No. 1 Ranked Golf Schools in America – the Jim McLean Golf Schools.
McLean has forged a wonderful relationship with Burke over the years, and, up until recently, Burke occasionally stopped by the Jim McLean Golf Schools to offer his expertise for special golf schools. Burke, who also won the Vardon Trophy in 1952 and was named Player of the Year in 1956 has mentored and taught many players including: Hal Sutton, Ben Crenshaw, and Steve Elkington.
Now an author, Burke, who has been around the game for more than a half-century, finally took the advice of so many, and put his thoughts to paper in, “It’s Only A Game – Words of Wisdom from a Lifetime in Golf”.
In this interview, originally taped in 1999 for Jim McLean’s film on Ben Hogan, Burke and McLean discussed many topics about the game, Burke’s relationship with Hogan, Jimmy Demaret, and other stars from years past, building Champions Golf Club, and the game in general.
