“The Hottest Shafts In Golf” wins wood, hybrid shaft count victories at Turnberry
POWAY, Calif. – After being out of contention at the Open Championship for the past several years and six years since he won the Senior British Open, the five-time Open Champion put his trust in Aldila’s latest shaft technology, the VooDoo®, in his driver and 3-wood to orchestrate his way through four grueling days at Turnberry before the 59-year-old eventually lost in a four-hole playoff. His second place finish provided one of the most memorable Opens in history and made him the biggest mover in the FedEx Cup point standings jumping 142 spots.
Earlier in the week the eight-time major champion said that his goal was to keep the ball in play off the tee and he did so relying on the accuracy, stability and increased distance of the VooDoo’s S-core Technology™ to see him through. He finished with a -2 under 278 including an opening round 65 followed by a 70, 71 and 72.
With the help of the VooDoo, Aldila also maintained their standing as the #1 shaft on Tour by winning the wood and hybrid shaft counts at the Open Championship making it three straight majors they have won both wood and hybrid shaft counts, according to the Darrell Survey.
“When the best players in the world competed at Augusta, Bethpage and Turnberry this year, one thing was consistent; Aldila was the #1 wood and hybrid shaft manufacturer of choice,” said Mike Rossi, Aldila’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
What sets the VooDoo apart from the others is its patent-pending S-core (stabilized core) Technology designed to maximize energy transfer to the golf ball, yielding unparalleled distance and accuracy with each swing. The VooDoo’s real “magic” is the high modulus carbon stabilization rib running the length of the shaft. The innovative rib structure increases hoop strength/stiffness so much that it’s 80 percent greater than conventional graphite, and up to 60 percent greater than competitors’ attempts at cross sectional stabilization.
In other PGA action, the winner of the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee, Wisc., used Aldila’s VS Proto™ to help secure his first victory on the PGA Tour. He eventually won in a two-hole playoff, edging out the second place finisher who used Aldila’s VooDoo in his Driver. “The Hottest Shafts In Golf” also won the hybrid shaft count.
Aldila has the unique ability to fuse high-end design with cutting edge technology. They are continually on the leading edge of the golf world through their relentless pursuit of the next best innovation. Are you playing Aldila or just graphite?
