LOS ANGELES, CA – TGA, The Premier Junior Golf Program (www.golftga.com) and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® announced today, that TGA will host a series of events through the Eagles for St. JudeSM program to benefit St. Jude.
The Eagles for St. Jude events give golf enthusiasts the chance to join professional golfers like Vijay Singh, Camilo Villegas, Morgan Pressel, Loren Roberts, and Rich Beem in supporting St. Jude through this unique national campaign.
From August through December, TGA will host golf-a-thons throughout the country encouraging juniors and their parents to participate in raising funds in their community for St. Jude. Participants will play as many holes as they can, with their sponsors donating back to the hospital for every hole they play. All proceeds from the Eagles for St. Jude fundraisers will be donated to St. Jude, one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers.
Joshua Jacobs, President and CEO said of the events, “TGA works with the youth of America in K-8th grades. We are thrilled to partner with one of the leading research centers, St. Jude, as they continue to find cures and save children from cancer and other diseases. We want to aid this important cause to give more kids the ability to get entrenched in the game of golf. We are excited to participate in this program that all of TGA will embrace.”
Carleen O’Reilly, a representative of ALSAC/St. Jude, reiterated, “We are extremely proud to work with the TGA on the upcoming Eagles for St. Jude events. Their drive to encourage youth to participate in a program that supports the research and treatment for our patients, including those in their own backyard, is commendable. We appreciate their support and wish them the best on this endeavor.”
There are many ways for golf fans to support St. Jude this tournament season. They can make a one-time donation, pledging a donation per eagle or committing to a monthly donation by visiting www.eaglesforstjude.org. About TGA
Total Golf Adventures, The Premier Junior Golf Program, (www.golftga.com) was founded in 2003 with a mission to provide all K-8th grade students with access to the game of golf through the first national at-school, after school Golf Enrichment Program that transitions students to golf courses in the form of camps, clinics and tournaments. TGA has put more than 50,000 K-8th grade students through its programs, and there are currently 44 TGA programs in 22 states, with more than 1,800 schools participating.
TGA breaks down the traditional barriers of convenience and cost when golf is brought to the schools. TGA’s 5 Level Golf Enrichment Program, developed by PGA and LPGA golf professionals and PhD’s in education and curriculum development, teaches the fundamentals, rules and etiquette of golf, while promoting golf’s life values through its character development initiative, “Play the Fair Way with TGA.” TGA is a USGA approved program under the Rules of Amateur Status.
TGA is endorsed and named as the official junior golf initiative by the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA); is a national supporting organization of the After School Alliance and Lights on AfterSchool; is a corporate advocate and a partner of the President’s Challenge on Physical Fitness; and is a partner with the Southern California PGA Section and Northern California PGA Section.
