Pre-tournament “Solheim After Sundown” bash is, too
SUGAR GROVE, Ill., July 22, 2009 – Officials for the 2009 Solheim Cup today announced that the tournament’s PING Pavilion tickets are sold out.
The Solheim Cup, which features 12-woman teams from the U.S. and Europe in a team match-play competition, is set for Aug. 17-23 at Rich Harvest Farms golf course in Sugar Grove. The PING Pavilion is a climate-controlled indoor spectator hospitality pavilion located off the 17th green with adjacent parking. It features televisions, seating areas, and a complete pay-as-you-go menu.
“The sell out of the PING Pavilion demonstrates how loyal Solheim Cup fans from around the country and the world as well as Chicago-area fans have embraced this very special event,” said Kelly Hyne, vice president of LPGA Properties and tournament director of this year’s Solheim Cup. “The good news is weekly and single-day grounds tickets are still available either online at solheimcup.com or at Jewel-Osco stores throughout the state.”
Hyne also said the Solheim Cup’s traditional “Solheim After Sundown” pre-tournament party is sold out. The event, which will be headlined by the popular Chicago-based band Maggie Speaks, runs from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the PING Pavilion.
“The Solheim Cup is one of golf’s most exciting events and Solheim After Sundown is a wonderful way for people to get together before the competition starts and share in its celebration,” Hyne said. “Based on past experience, I’m confident in saying people are going to have a great time.”
Solheim After Sundown will feature a dinner and a silent auction followed by a high-energy performance by Maggie Speaks.
“We are very excited to have a band the quality of Maggie Speaks playing on our “Opening Night,” Hyne said. “We know our fans are going to love it.”
