BALTIMORE, MD. – July 22, 2009 – STX, world-renowned as an industry pioneer in putter innovation, and for its patented Soft Face Insert Technology, announced today that the company will be the presenting sponsor for the “Swing for Charity event with Baltimore County Golf.”
“Swing for Charity” is a fun and free putting contest being held during the Orioles vs Red Sox game on July 31st. Inside Oriole Park at Camden Yards, multiple putting greens will be located along the Eutaw Street entrance. Children and adult baseball fans will be using STX Putters to test their putting skills.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for STX. Not only are we helping a remarkable cause but thousands of people get to experience first hand the unique feel of the STX face inserts as well as the overall performance factors found only in our putters,” said Director of Golf Steve Henneman. “We also are proud of supporting Baltimore County Golf.”
Those who participate in the enjoyable challenge will be putting for free giveaways which include a twosome to any of the five Baltimore County Golf public courses, STX Putters, FX Studio packages, golf attire from Baltimore County Golf courses, passes to the ice rink at Reisterstown Sportsplex, Dry Joy Shoes and Nike Golf balls.
All donations will benefit the Maryland Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, whose mission is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease.
A variety of STX Putters will be used at the “Swing for Charity” event but the all-star of the line up will be the newly launched Envision TR Putter. The Envision TR Putter’s angular appearance is not only aesthetic but assists with alignment and ensures a proper address.
Chief Club Designer Bob Engman designed the head geometrically so it makes it easy for golfers to see the putter when it is not properly aligned throughout the stroke. Engman also distributed more weight further out toward the hell and toe for a higher moment of inertia.
STX, known for their insert faces, equipped the new Envision TR Putter for a variety of responses. It is available in the black and red insert options. The black insert is the softest in the STX line. It delivers the highest friction and resilience rate plus increased dwell time. Those characteristics are chemically formulated to get the ball rolling sooner and keep your putts on line. For a medium resiliency rate, the red insert offers an intermediate amount of dwell time for true control.
About STX: STX is acknowledged as being the golf industry’s foremost authority on insert face technology. Over a quarter century ago, the company introduced the first patented soft face elastomer insert, creating the “softest legal face in golf.” In the mid-90s the company’s research and development team introduced the first USGA approved interchangeable face insert and removable weight system. Both these and other innovations have helped create the standards for putter design today.
About Baltimore County Golf: Baltimore County Golf is headquartered in Towson, MD., and operates as a division of Baltimore County Revenue Authority (BCRA). BCRA is an independent governmental agency that finances, constructs, and operates a variety of financially self-supporting facilities including parking garages, recreational projects and public golf courses.
