VERNON, NJ – (July 27, 2009) -Two rebels are better than one.
Rebel fashionista LoudMouth Golf announced today that it has signed on to sponsor a new golf reality show, Rebel on the Links, which portrays the transformation of a mild-mannered car sales manager into the Rocky Balboa of golf.
During the show, protagonist Dan Roland sets his sights on the PGA Tour, and struggles to emerge with a new game, a buff physique, and a reputation as Golf’s latest superstar. True to his rebel standing Roland hits the fairways in LoudMouth Golf’s Shagadelic styling’s shoring up his status as someone who does things differently. The series will be shot at the Crystal Springs Resort Golf Course in New Jersey.
A final home for the golf series is still up in the air with discussion underway at the Golf Channel along with several other networks.
“We are sponsoring Rebel on the Links because we believe Dan Roland exemplifies the spirit of LoudMouth Golf,” said Larry Jackson, CEO of LoudMouth Golf. “Dan gives the game everything he’s got, he leaves nothing in the bag. His drive, energy, and determination are inspiring and his can-do attitude is an example of what you can achieve with hard work and a dream to aim for. He’s not your typical golfer-just like the rest of the LoudMouth Nation.”
A resident of Spring Valley, NY, Roland is a sales manager for a Chevrolet dealer in Beacon, NY and has always had a love for the game.
In less than six months Roland took his average score from a 108 to 78. “Now I want to go after the PGA,” says Roland. “I am not in it for anything less than a homerun out of the park. With the right coaching and effort, I can go down from 78 to 65-that’s another 13 strokes. If you put your mind to it, anything can happen. I won’t be surprised to get an exemption into a tour event.”
Assisting Roland in his quest is golf coach Dave Glenz, a former PGA pro who has been named one of the top 50 instructors by Golf Digest. He is already putting Roland through his paces several times a week.
Roland will also train hard to get his body into championship form. The burly 6’2″ golfer weighs in at 248 pounds, with 23% body fat. He aims to have the most muscular physique on any golf tour, shooting for a target weight of 220 pounds and 9% body fat.
“I’m going to go from an out-of-shape, beer belly to one of the most sculpted, physically fit players anywhere,” he said. “It’s one man and one dream, with a rebel heart. If you thought the game of golf was boring on TV, then you better think again.”
In addition to LoudMouth Golf, other sponsors include Crystal Springs Resorts, the David Glenz Golf Academy, the Metro Golf & Fitness Center, VI Pro Software, and Healey Brothers Dealerships.
