GolfLogix Adds BlackBerry Bold to Supported Cell Phones; Offers Golfers Best-Selling Golf GPS Application Right on Their Phones
Scottsdale, Arizona – July 29, 2009 GolfLogix Golf GPS cell phone application is now available for a free trial on the BlackBerry® Bold™ at www.GolfGPS.com. GolfLogix has added the BlackBerry Bold smartphone to its list of supported cell phones for its Golf GPS distance and stat-tracking application. Golfers downloading GolfLogix to their BlackBerry Bold will enjoy a 24-hour Guest Membership and get instant distances to the front, center and back of the greens as well as layups and major hazards on over 24,000 professionally mapped golf courses worldwide. In addition to the distance information, golfers will have access to GolfLogix-patented scoring and statistic technology and can track their fairways hit, greens in regulation, distances of each club and more, just like a Golf Pro. The BlackBerry Bold smartphone offers a large color screen, extended battery life and WI-FI connectivity for faster downloads.
The GolfLogix Smartphone Golf GPS application was first introduced in early July with availability on the BlackBerry® Curve™ Smartphone models. “The response has been tremendous and we will be rapidly adding supported Smartphones over the next month. Our objective is to have our GolfLogix Golf GPS application available on all of the most popular GPS-enabled cellphones by the end of the summer,” stated Scott Lambrecht CEO of GolfLogix, Inc. “Since golfers are bringing their cellphones onto the golf course anyway, it just makes sense for them to use their GPS-enabled phones with our golf application.” The company is the first in the Golf GPS handheld market to offer its golf application on the world’s best-selling Smartphones
Over the next several weeks the Company plans to announce free trial downloads for the BlackBerry Tour, the BlackBerry Storm, the Apple iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and more. Verizon Wireless only allows third-party GPS applications such as GolfLogix on the Verizon BlackBerry® Storm™ 9530 and BlackBerry® Tour™ 9630. To accommodate Verizon users, GolfLogix will have these models available by early August.
Although golfers can download the GolfLogix application at anytime, the 24-hour Guest Membership will not start until they actually begin a round of golf by selecting the tee box they are starting on. After the Guest Membership, golfers are cordially invited to become a GolfLogix Annual Member for $39.95. GolfLogix Annual Membership includes unlimited access to see distances on more than 24,000 golf courses worldwide, distance of clubs, scoring and stat tracking both on a Smartphone and on a personalized statistical website at GolfLogix.com, plus valuable discounts on must-have Smartphone accessories. “We saw a need for a feature-rich Golf GPS application that went beyond the basic scorecard and limited hole-image apps that are out there now,” stated Lambrecht. GolfLogix has more than 10 years of experience in Golf GPS technology and golf applications.
GolfLogix plans to continue to promote its widely popular GPS-8 which is a standalone handheld GPS device manufactured by Garmin that is loaded with GolfLogix software. It allows golfers to see convenient distance measurements on a large, easy-to-read screen. The GPS-8 retails for $299.95, includes one free golf course download and unlimited golf courses worldwide for an annual membership of $29.95. “We realize that there is always going to be a segment of golfers that wants simple distances on a standalone GPS device with no Smartphone capabilities. With our GPS-8, golfers just turn it on and play golf. It’s 100% automatic,” adds Lambrecht. “GolfLogix on GPS-enabled Smartphones allows us to address a new spectrum of golfers that are on-the-go and want an all-in-one device.”
Competitive Edge, GolfLogix’ exclusive media agency, will launch a TV and Print campaign promoting the smartphone application in summer 2009.
