Softspikes® Worn By 78% of the Field At U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, While Capturing Plastic Cleat Field at the PGA TOUR’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational & Legends Reno-Tahoe Open
Brentwood, Tennessee, August 10, 2009 … Softspikes® golf cleats – the world’s best selling cleat brand – dominated weekend play across all tours, highlighted by 78% of the field at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship wearing the #1 Cleat on Tour. Additionally, the Softspikes brand captured the plastic cleat field at both weekend PGA TOUR events, with 55% player usage at the prestigious WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and 64% player usage at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open.
Complementing Softspikes’ success at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, which featured golf’s future LPGA stars, 122 of the top 156 players chose to wear the Company’s stable of cleats, including Pulsar®, the #1 Cleat on Tour, and the new Black Widow® Tour™, golf’s first adjustable plastic cleat.
“We are always thrilled to see field dominance across all tours, and this week we are especially excited to see the future women stars of golf overwhelmingly trust the performance benefits of Softspikes,” said John Hohman, VP of Marketing, PrideSports.
PrideSports was formed in January 2003 following Pride Manufacturing Company’s purchase of Softspikes, Inc., and its sister company Trisport, Ltd. of England. This acquisition essentially formed the world’s premier golf accessories company, as Pride and Softspikes are the world’s leading golf tee and golf cleat lines, respectively. Today, PrideSports is the world leader in the design and manufacture of cleats, spikes and receptacles for the entire golf footwear industry.
