New Golf Bag Ad Idea – (Good or Bad?)
We all know the PGA has had some financial troubles recently due to the economy…who hasn’t. They have lost a few sponsors but hey…they now have a lot of their pros twittering on Twitter to make up for it. I guess they think this will help improve their image and get more tourney support from companies with some deep pockets. It might not work but I think it is a pretty forward thinking on the PGA’s part.
“Project Bag Ad Schwag”
But this new form of advertising on the PGA Tour has us a little baffled. I am all for forward thinking but this one I really cannot even believe got approved. But we want to hear your opinion on this one. We actually do see some advantages …like being able to change ads on the fly and being able to have more then 1 ad per spot. But there seems to be a slew of downsides to what seems to be one of the most un-thought out plans the PGA has attempted in quite some time. Here are some of the details on the bag schwag:
* Michael Allen, recent Senior PGA Championship winner will be the guinea pig for “Project Bag Ad Schwag”
* Seems as though it is geared toward local advertisers…hmmm
* Increase interaction between fans & players…ok not a bad idea
* Tested at a limited amount of events
Tell Us What You Think (I Really Want To Know On This One)
I know this might take some time to digest…but take a minute while you have your coffee and tell us what you think about this. Both the good and the bad. This might be the future of advertising in golf so let’s see what we can come up with for improving this. Or if you think this is the stupidest idea you have heard all week let the company know about it. By the way if you didn’t notice the company that is putting this all together is advertising on the same bag…PROBAGADS.COM. Wonder why they have their ad done the old fashioned way and not on the screen…hmm?
