Fountain Hills High School grad earns $500 for college
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Ryan Hanford recently was awarded a $500 scholarship as part of a value-added benefit of Eagle Mountain Golf Club’s 2009 Mountain Club, an annual frequent-player program that offers, among other things, preferred green fees. The scholarships are available to the college-bound dependents of the Mountain Club Cardholders. Scottsdale-based OB Sports Golf Management initially established the scholarship program in 2008 at 10 golf clubs under its management, Eagle Mountain being one of them.
“I truly appreciate the scholarship,” said Hanford. “With the cost of education increasing, every bit helps a lot. The money will get me off on the right foot this fall at NAU.”
“Congratulations Ryan!” stated Phil Green, president of OB Sports. “We’re always looking for ways to add value to our frequent-player card programs, and the scholarship giveaway is a unique way to do that. It’s not a gigantic, but certainly gives a little boost towards the student’s higher education.”
Eagle Mountain Golf Club is located approximately 7.5 miles east of Loop 101 on Shea Boulevard and Eagle Mountain Parkway in Fountain Hills, Ariz. The Scott Miller-designed, 18-hole golf course (par 71 and 6,800 yards from the back tees) incorporates the property’s natural box canyons, elevation changes and native Sonoran desert into the design of the golf course.
Shortly after opening to the public in 1996, Eagle Mountain was named “Best New Public Golf Course” by the Arizona Republic. More recently in 2009, Golf World honored Eagle Mountain as one of the “Top 50 Public Courses in the Country,” and Golf Digest awarded Eagle Mountain with 4 ½ stars out of 5.
