Mentored by the King, Arnold Palmer Set For Fall 2010 Release
GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – PGA Professional Brad Brewer has signed with Zondervan to publish Mentored by the King, Arnold Palmer: Success Skills for Golf, Business and Life. Publication is slated for Fall 2010.
Brad Brewer is a member of a select group of people bestowed with the honor of being “under the Umbrella”-a part of the Palmer inner circle. For more than two decades, he has had the pleasure of knowing and observing Arnold Palmer as an employer, business partner, teacher, competitor, father, grandfather, philanthropist, “rock star,” and personal friend. Brewer was a member of the entourage that traveled the globe with Palmer, from the Islands of Hawaii to the fairways of St. Andrews, down under to Australia and back. As the Director of the Arnold Palmer Academies, Brewer traveled aboard the Citation-10 with Pilot Palmer at the controls as they opened new locations and made site visits to golf courses under construction. During his tenure as head of the Academy, Brewer developed the curriculum and trained the instructors in Palmer’s methodology and winning attitude to playing great golf.
In Mentored by the King, Brewer has compiled short stories and life-skills lessons to paint a portrait of success and inspiration from a real American hero and King of Golf, Arnold Palmer. Mentored by the King sheds new light on Palmer as it celebrates the man, his approach, his attitude, and his way through the eyes of those who competed fairway by fairway with him: the men and women with whom he has played the game, featuring interviews and reflections from members of the media, business moguls, celebrities and everyday people.
Mentored by the King, Arnold Palmer will be Brewer’s second book. In 1998, he co-authored a 365-page golf instructional book published by Chandler House Press entitled Golf for Everybody: A Lifetime Guide for Learning, Playing, and Enjoying the Game. He has authored numerous golf instructional articles for national publications, including USA Today, PGA Magazine, Sports Illustrated-Golf Magazine, Golf Digest, Golf Tips Magazine, Senior Golfer, and Golf Fitness Magazine. He wrote and compiled the information for the Arnold Palmer Golf Journal published in 1997 by Triumph Books. He also contributed a chapter for Chicken Soup for the Golfer’s Soul.
Brewer is the founder and president of the Brad Brewer Golf Academy at the Shingle Creek Resort and Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.; providing instruction to golfers of all ability levels on an individual or corporate group basis. A PGA class-A Professional who successfully competed on the Australian PGA Tour and Hogan/Nike Tours, he was awarded the 2000 North Florida PGA Teacher of the Year. Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine both published him as a top ranked instructor in America, and he is presently listed by GOLF Magazine as one of the “Top 100 Teachers” for 2007-2008. The Brad Brewer Golf Academy is ranked in the Top 25 Golf Schools in America. He is also the lead instructor for The Golf Channel online lessons and conducts a daily video blog called The Daily Brew. He is an advisory team member and contributing writer for Golf Fitness Magazine and a featured instructor in several other national magazines.
