The Putting Arc congratulates Catriona Matthew on her major win at the Women’s British Open, and Fred Funk on his major win at the USGA Senior Open.
Congratulations also to recent Nationwide Tour winners Rich Barcelo and Chris Tidland, and John Rollins on the PGA Tour.
Two Mississippi amateurs won their USGA Qualifying event and will be playing in the US Amateur at Southern Hills CC. One of them finished first at Memphis and captured the sole qualifying spot, while the other finished first at Jackson, Mississippi and claimed one of the two available spots. Both are students of VJ Trolio, are long time Putting Arc users and have been using the Hogan Pivot for several years.
Finally, one last story of interest from Beth Page Black. Putting Arc PGA tour rep Ken McDonald was on the practice green at Beth Page when he noticed a young golfer whom he did not recognize. This golfer was using a Deluxe Putting Arc, and it was the most scuffed up, worn out Putting Arc that Ken had ever seen. When Ken talked to him, he said that his name was Trevor Murphy, and that he had just graduated from college, played on the Gateway tour in Arizona, and made it through both stages of qualifying to get into the Open. He got his Putting Arc in high school and used it all through college. With further investigation, it turns out that during his college career he won three straight Vermont Amateurs, the Vermont Open, and qualified for the Wachovia Championship.. The final story on Trevor Murphy and the US Open … he made the cut, finished #2 in putts per round (27.75), #3 in putts per green in regulation (1.667), and made $20,630 for his biggest paycheck ever. Keep up the good work, Trevor, and congratulations from everyone at the Putting Arc!
