This week sees the start of the biennial clash of female golfers from either side of the Atlantic ocean and Shaft Skinz finds themselves between the proverbial ‘rock and hard place’ when it comes to their Solheim Cup allegiances.
The innovative company, responsible for producing the increasingly popular decorative and protective shaft sleeves, has players in both camps who have put their products into play.
With a growing number of top flight professional players on both the LPGA and the Ladies European Tour having adopted the idea of adding a little more color to their games, it was almost certain to happen.
The company finds themselves with an equal pull on their emotional support, having one player in each camp. Until recently, 2 of the US team had been supporters of Shaft Skinz products until contractual obligations forced one to return her driver to the manufacturer’s original specification.
The company’s director, Martin Greeves, reflects on the dichotomy thus, “We love to see ‘our’ tour players succeed whilst using Shaft Skinz products for obvious reasons. In this case, the success of one will mean the defeat of another so that makes it harder to get firmly behind anyone.
We’d love to see all the Solheim Cup players use Shaft Skinz. Maybe next time around that will happen. Until then we are delighted that we have 2 of the world’s best players competing at the highest level of the game who have shown their support for our products. This week we just hope for a fantastic spectacle.”
All the tour players who have decided to ‘Play with color™’ can be seen on the company web site including those who will participating in the Solheim Cup this week at Rich Harvest Farms.
