Aug. 31 – Tournaments & Outdoor Demo Day
The 2009 PGA Fall Expo tees off on August 31 with the Professional Challenge Cup, Amateur Shoot-Out and the Outdoor Demo Day, all at the award-winning Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort.
The PGA Fall Expo Professional Challenge Cup features a $25,000 purse and pay out to 50% of the field (based on a 100-team field). The new four-ball stroke play tournament offers a first-place prize among the largest of any PGA Section event at $10,000, a second place prize of $3,000, and third place prize of $1,000. Played on Paiute’s Wolf golf course, the longest course in Nevada at 7,604 yards, the tournament has limited spots available for the 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. starting times. PGA Professional registration for the PGA Fall Expo Professional Challenge Cup is $250 per player through Aug. 27 and includes the entry fee, range and balls, carts, breakfast (morning shotgun), lunch (both shotguns), refreshments on course and Expo manufacturer gift bags. The popular PGA Fall Expo Outdoor Demo Day returns for the fourth year on Paiute’s driving range, short game area and putting green. Product demonstrations and networking takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and features some 30 golf vendors unveiling the latest golf equipment, training aids and accessories for attending industry professionals to personally test the day before the opening of the PGA Fall Expo. PGA Professionals receive four MSR Credits for participation in the Outdoor Demo Day.

The PGA Fall Expo floor plan is taking on a whole new look for 2009 with PGA Professionals and golf retailers at the center of the buying action. Golf vendors combine with multiple buyer programs on the Show floor in 2009. Buyers will benefit from a new central business networking platform that is the hub to three new education stages and new exhibitor segmentation groupings. The comprehensive schedule of free education seminars, career fair programs, interactive product demonstrations and professional networking events are designed to drive traffic throughout the show floor. The all-new indoor Golf Performance & Training Center, sponsored by The Net Return and Players Turf, offers attendees the opportunity to personally test equipment and training aids while the New Product Center provides a centralized display of new golf merchandise for convenient, one-stop shopping and comparison of the industry’s latest equipment, accessories and fashions.
The popular PGA Fall Expo Education Conference of some 20 professional development seminars is being offered for the first time at absolutely no cost in 2009. Seminars continue to be led by the industry’s foremost experts from The PGA of America, Association of Golf Merchandisers and successful golf business leaders, plus provide PGA members with MSR Credits for each hour attended.
Only the best in the industry are taking on the most important issues, trends and developments that will shape the business of golf moving forward. Hot seminar topics include steps to surviving the economy, the “greening” of golf, five-star customer service and the impact of government legislation on the golf industry. Seminars are taking place directly on the Show floor within multiple new education stages on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A special feature presentation by The PGA of America begins the PGA Fall Expo and addresses government legislation, relations and the importance of golf industry advocacy in the current economic climate. The “Government Legislation Impacting Golf” seminar is open to all attending industry professionals and will be led by Christine Garrity, Managing Director and General Counsel for The PGA and Eric Winborn, Governmental Affairs Consultant for The PGA.
