National Alliance for Accessible Golf Board of Directors Elects New Executive Committee Officers

Reston, Va., August 21, 2009 – Ms. Melissa Low of Springfield, Va., has been elected Vice President of the board of directors of the National Alliance for Accessible Golf. Also elected to the five member Executive board is Rick Shoemaker of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., as an At-Large member. Ms. Low is the Director of Industry Resources and Legislative Services for the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA). Mr. Shoemaker is the Director of Revenue for PGA TOUR Golf Course Properties for the PGA TOUR.

“I am honored to serve as an officer of an organization that is dedicated to helping those with disabilities enjoy the game of golf,” Ms. Low said. I look forward to helping the Alliance continue to build awareness and grow educational programs such as the GAINTM program throughout the country,” she added.

“Having worked with the Alliance for the past two years I am honored to serve as an officer of this incredible organization and I look forward to helping the Alliance continue its fundraising efforts through Pro-Am tournaments and other means,” Mr. Shoemaker stated.

Alliance President Dr. Betsy Clark echoed the sentiment of the board. “Melissa’s and Rick’s expertise in communication, fundraising and extensive knowledge of the golf industry will certainly benefit the Alliance and its mission,” Dr. Clark stated.

Ms. Low and Mr. Shoemaker will serve on the Executive Committee along with fellow officers President Dr. Betsy Clark (dbc Consulting), Treasurer Andy Phipps (The Decatur Group) and Secretary Mike Tinkey (National Golf Course Owners Association).

The National Alliance for Accessible Golf (“Alliance”) is a charitable organization working to ensure the opportunity for all individuals to play the game of golf. The Alliance is represented by major golf organizations in the United States, organizations that provide services for people with disabilities, and other advocates. Through GAIN™ (Golf: Accessible and Inclusive Networks) and other programs, the Alliance promotes inclusion and awareness to the golf industry, golf instructors, and the public.
