HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – September 1, 2009 – Cleveland® Golf/Srixon® announced today the addition of Jorge Campillo as the latest member of their tour staff. Campillo, who signed a multi-year contract with the company, will be wearing a Cleveland® hat, carrying a Cleveland® bag and playing Cleveland® woods, irons and wedges, as well as using a Srixon® ball and glove.
The Caceres, Spain native and soon to be graduate of Indiana University is one of only two Hoosiers to earn multiple First Team All-American Awards, while also being named to the Golfweek First Team All-American squad. This three time participant in the Palmer Cup has also been twice named the Big Ten Player of the Year, helping guide the Hoosiers to a team title at the first annual Ben Ten Match Play Championships with a flawless 3-0 individual match record. In 2009, he had three collegiate wins and posted three other top five showings, while only placing outside of the top 10 a total of three times in 12 events. He was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week nine times, tying a current PGA Tour member for most weekly accolades in Big Ten history. Campillo was named a member of the All-Nicklaus Team, as well as one of only three finalists for the Ben Hogan Award, which is given to the top men’s college golfer in the country. Currently the reigning Spanish Amateur champion, Campillo finished tied for second at last year’s NCAA Championships, finished fourth at the Biarritz Cup and reached the quarterfinals at the British Amateur.
