Stricker one of five players in the top six to trust FootJoy products
Fairhaven, MA – With playoff elimination on the line in the race for the FedEx Cup, FootJoy players dominated the leaderboard at the Deutsche Bank Championship this past weekend, led by tournament champion, Steve Stricker.
Just as he did in his previous two victories this season, Stricker trusted SYNR-GTM golf shoes en route to picking up his third win of the year and seventh of his career. Stricker, who also wore the new FootJoy PureTouchTM Limited glove, now leads the FedEx Cup standings with two events remaining and moves up to a career-high No.2 in the World Golf Rankings. Stricker is also the second player to win a playoff event this year in SYNR-G, following Heath Slocum’s dramatic triumph last week at The Barclays.
After narrowly missing a chance to force a playoff last week with Slocum, Stricker was stable throughout the back nine as several players made a run at the lead. Jason Dufner wore the new FJ ICON golf shoes on Monday en route to a final round 6-under 65 that featured a run of four consecutive birdies. His runner-up finish was his best this season.
Two major champions, Angel Cabrera and Padraig Harrington, finished one shot further back in a tie for fourth at 15-under. Cabrera, who alternated between SYNR-G and FJ ICON over the weekend, fired a bogey-free 6-under 65 while Harrington continued his stellar play of late, making birdies on his final two holes en route to his third top five finish in the last four events. Harrington, like Stricker, has trusted the SYNR-G shoes since their introduction in January and also prefers the new PureTouch Limited glove.
