First Chinese Golf Executive to Tee It Up with the Royal Family
(SHENZHEN, China) – Tenniel Chu, Executive Director of Mission Hills Golf Club, became the first Chinese golf executive to play golf with the Royal Family when he joined Prince Andrew, Duke of York, for a round in Scotland earlier this week.
The duo teed it up at Dundonald Links in advance of the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy, a premier junior event featuring 57 competitors from 34 countries around the world.
“It was an honor to play with Prince Andrew,” says Chu. “Like Mission Hills, he is devoted to growing golf around the globe. We’re excited to be associated with his prestigious tournament.”
Hong Kong-native and Mission Hills member, Steven Lam, as well as Korean Li Ji-woo qualified for Duke of York by virtue of their victories earlier this year at the Mission Hills Jack Nicklaus Junior Championship.
Says Chu: “We are very proud of our two Mission Hills representatives competing at the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy. They signify some of the first fruits of Mission Hills’ efforts to grow a new crop of Asian golfers of global stature.”
“The event gets better and better every year,” says Prince Andrew. “Dundonald will ask difficult questions of these leading youngsters but I am sure they will come up with some great golf.”
