Europe lost women’s golf’s prestigious Solheim Cup to the USA. But they sure did it in style. Swedish apparel provider Abacus, the official European team apparel sponsor was the apparent winner in the fashion face-off, on the course and in the shop. Their stylish and diverse wardrobe won accolades in the media throughout the tournament.
Abacus’ Managing Director, Sven-Olof Karlsson, is glowing with pride. He has just returned from the USA and has this to say:
“Our involvement is a big step towards the American market, not least because the Solheim Cup is really, really big in America. And this time we managed to get the clothes more in focus then when the competition took place in Sweden two years ago. It created a new awareness both for the clothes and who is behind them.”
The next step for Abacus is to showcase their line at the PGA Merchandise Show, golf’s biggest trade show in Orlando this coming January. It is there that the successes from the Rich Harvest Farms golf course in Chicago will be turned into an entrance ticket to the American clothing market.
Won the match
If the USA won on the course, it was Abacus that won the clothing match, both amongst the spectators and in the shop where the stylish and practical clothing from Abacus beat the competition hands down.
“The Scandinavian style seems to appeal to the American public. We’ve had a lot of very positive feedback about the collection from the visitors. And thanks to countless hours of television broadcasting from The Solheim Cup, the collection has also been exposed to millions of viewers. When the week was over, everybody had seen our clothes, which is exactly what we hoped for when we came here. We’ve also been able to meet important representatives from the fashion world, the LPGA, and the people behind The Solheim Cup.”
Function, design and quality
