SCHAUMBURG, Illinois (September 22, 2009) – Cobra Golf has selected Nippon Shaft to provide stock steel shafts for its new high performance Cobra S2 irons and Cobra S2 Forged irons, company officials said today.
“Nippon Shaft is honored and excited that Cobra Golf has elected to make Nippon Shaft the stock steel shaft for two of its key iron products,” said Hiroyuki Fukuda, head of sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft USA.
The S2 irons will receive the N.S. Pro 1030GH, a premium lightweight steel shaft that weighs 103 grams. Designed for avid golfers, the 1030GH, like all N.S. Pro products, gives golfers a high level of control and accuracy. The 1030GH also is designed to promote higher launch and a higher ball flight.
“Golfers of all abilities will be drawn to the Cobra S2 Irons for their accuracy, distance, forgiveness, and confidence-inspiring profile,” said Brian Zender, general manager of Cobra Golf.
The S2 Forged irons will receive the new N.S. Pro 1130 Tour shaft, which is designed to provide optimum trajectory and increased control for the better player. The 1130 weighs 113 grams. Better players will appreciate the S2 Forged irons because they offer superior control, increased distanced, and an outstanding forged feel. Moreover, the Cobra S2 Forged feature a Tour-inspired shape and design that appeals to skilled players.
“Nippon Shaft is very proud of its relationship with Cobra, whose products represent the cutting edge of technology,” Fukuda said. ‘The combination of Cobra’s advanced technology and unique design combined with Nippon Shaft’s premium lightweight steel shafts can make a positive difference in how golfers at all levels practice and play.”
Cobra first utilized Nippon Shaft as a stock steel shaft product in 2005 and has done so ever since.
“Cobra Golf selected Nippon Shaft for its new Cobra S2 and the S2 Forged irons because of the company’s consistent commitment to high quality and performance,” Zender said.
Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia with more than 80 percent of the market and ranks No. 2 in North America. Currently, more than 100 touring professionals worldwide use Nippon Shaft products, resulting in more than 50 victories in the last four years, Fukuda said.
Nippon Shaft is a subsidiary of privately held NHK, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer based in Yokohama, Japan. Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in Schaumburg, Illinois.
