Information on iconic PGA TOUR event also available on Facebook, Twitter
La Quinta, Calif. – Long considered one of the most fan-friendly events on the PGA TOUR, the Bob Hope Classic will showcase its new Web site today – www.bobhopeclassic.com – one element of a multi-platform way fans can even more easily gain information about and/or purchase tickets for the 2010 Classic.
Along with the new Web site, fans can follow pre-tournament and tournament-week action on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/BobHopeClassic) and on Twitter (@bobhopeclassic). There, fans can not only catch up on Classic news and see exclusive celebrity photos and quotes from the always-popular Pro-Am, but enter a variety of contests for the chance to win Bob Hope Classic tickets and other tournament prizes. From a haiku contest to photo caption contests to trivia, fans will have a multitude of chances to win.
“We look forward to 2010 and continuing our commitment to the tournament and the charities it benefits,” said Bob Hope Classic President John Foster. “We maintain our pledge to deliver the highest quality tournament to our amateurs, celebrities, pros and, most importantly, to the fans throughout America. Similarly, we maintain our pledge to continue our support of the Coachella Valley Charities at a time when they need it most.
“We continue to appreciate the long-standing support provided by 2,000 volunteers and our local corporate sponsors. We look forward to welcoming our 384 pro-am contestants – including some 30 nationally-recognized celebrities — from throughout the country and our 128 PGA TOUR pros back to the city of La Quinta next year as we continue our mission of serving human needs in the Valley.”
Pat Perez won the 2009 Bob Hope Classic. As the Classic celebrates its 51st tournament Jan. 18-24, 2010, the host course will be the Palmer Private at PGA West, which joined the Classic rotation in 1988. Other courses in play in 2010 include La Quinta Country Club, a Classic course since 1965, SilverRock Resort, which debuted in 2008, and the Nicklaus Private Course at PGA West, which returns to the rotation for the second consecutive year.
In 50 years, the Classic has donated more than $47 million to charities throughout the Coachella Valley. For more information, go to www.bobhopeclassic.com or call 1.888.MRBHOPE (672.4673).
