JUPITER, Fla. – Strategic Shaft Technologies’ intellectual property portfolio was strengthened this week with the issuance of patents related to its shaft alignment system in 11 countries around the world. SST patents were issued in Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Germany and Malaysia.
Based on the manual PUREing machine that SST has licensed to dozens of the best clubmakers in the world over the past 10 years , the newly released PURE SPECS automated shaft analysis and alignment system uses smart motor and laser technology to both speed up the PUREing process and provide testing data on shafts never before available to the individual clubmaker. In addition to golf shafts, the PURE SPECS technology is patented for use with pool cues, archery arrows, fishing rods, aluminum baseball bats and construction materials including overhead pipes and gas lines used in many industrial settings.

Using proprietary computer software and sensitive data-acquisition sensors, the SST PURE® shaft alignment process analyzes the structural irregularities that exist to some degree in every golf shaft and locates the shaft’s most stable orientation. By assembling the club with the shaft in its SST PURE® orientation, off-line bending and twisting of the shaft are minimized and impact repeatability on the center of the clubface by the golfer improves by up to 51 percent. The process can be performed on existing clubs, new clubs or new shafts – steel or graphite – from all major manufacturers.
So far in 2009, the more than 200 professional players who have used PUREd clubs have won 35 events and more than $145 million.
