Fierce Golf will be debuting the first of their new line of super-shafts, designed specifically to address the two most common issues golfers face when deciding to re-shaft their clubs.
Says Fierce Golf’s lead designer, David Dugally, “Every day we confront two problems more than any other in our custom fit studios, and the same is true in every custom fit studio in the country: how to give the average golfer back some of the yards that time and age are stealing away and, for the strong, athletic golfer, how to make their already solid shots even longer.”
With almost two years in development, the team at Fierce Golf has managed to conquer both of these problems with their first two products: the Fierce Full Force and the Fierce Tour Deep.
Explains Dugally, “With the Full Force we set out to create an ultra-light shaft with a genuine torque measurement low enough to accommodate today’s oversize, high-MOI heads.” At 3.7 degrees (measured on a 30″ beam), the Full Force is the lowest torque shaft in the sub-50 gram weight range available today.
“But,” Dugally continues, “just getting the torque right wouldn’t be enough if the shaft wasn’t a joy to hit.” Incorporating the highest strain carbon fabric available anywhere, and assembled with patented Smart-Ply® technology, the Full Force also boasts the highest hoop strength of any golf shaft available today, almost 1 and half times higher than the next closest competitor. The result is optimized shaft reliability during the swing and through impact, maximized energy transfer and power, and tour-proven accuracy. The solid feel of the butt, combined with a soft mid-section and a super-active Micro-Mesh™ tip make for a club that feels both exceptionally stable and smooth. Baby-boomers everywhere will rejoice when they discover that they can once again hit the ball like they did in their college days.
“For the strong player,” opines Dugally, “the challenge was quite a bit different. These are the guys who can knock the wind out of a ball, but are looking for that edge of added yards. Unfortunately, the technology to give them that edge has been essentially maxed out until now.”
They found the answer by analyzing the flight of the golf ball, and focusing on the ‘Angle of Descent.’ Utilizing a combination of carbon nano-tubes and resin to dramatically strengthen and improve the alignment of the Tour Deep’s carbon fibers, the designers at Fierce Golf have been able to soften (or ‘thin out’) the center most section of the shaft. Working with the engineers at Grafalloy, they integrated the patented super-stiff Micro Mesh Tip Technology™, to create for the first time ever a shaft that produces a ball trajectory that flies flat for most of its hang time. The result is a shallower angle of descent that produces ‘Tour Quality Roll,” giving the golfer what they really want: more total yards.
