More than 2,900 votes submitted during inaugural contest
NORTHBROOK, Ill., Oct. 5, 2009 – KemperSportsTM congratulates the winner of the KemperSports Kids Fore Kids™ Art Contest to benefit The First Tee of San Francisco. Bellevue, Wash.-native Jessica Kent won the contest while collecting nearly 1,000 votes.
As the winner, Jessica will travel to San Francisco with her family to attend The Presidents Cup at Harding Park Golf Course, a KemperSports-managed facility since 2004. The trip consists of a package, compliments of KemperSports, that includes round-trip airfare, hotel, rental car and a round of golf at The Links at Bodega Harbour, a KemperSports-managed facility in Bodega Bay, Calif., located just 65 miles north of San Francisco. In addition, the PGA Tour will provide tickets to The Presidents Cup opening ceremonies, tickets to the three rounds of the tournament and Jessica will serve as an Honorary Observer on Thursday, Oct. 8, where the 14-year old will walk the course from inside the ropes during a Presidents Cup match.
The art contest encouraged kids to create an original piece of art that depicted their vision of “Golf in San Francisco.” Submissions, which were collected from The First Tee regional participants in California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada and Alaska, were pared down to the top-10 finalists that were posted online during a two-week voting period.
Jessica’s winning art work is being framed and matted, to be autographed by both U.S. and International Presidents Cup teams. The finished piece will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at The First Tee of San Francisco’s Annual Awards Dinner, Oct. 19 at Harding Park Golf Course. “KemperSports is pleased to partner with the PGA TOUR to provide Jessica Kent with a trip to San Francisco to attend a once-in-a-lifetime golf event,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “We are proud of the work The First Tee of San Francisco has down for Bay area kids.”
Founded in 2004 as part of the Harding Park renovation, The First Tee of San Francisco is a collaborative effort between The First Tee, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department and KemperSports. Over the last six years, The First Tee of San Francisco has reached more than 1,200 kids while continuing its mission of impacting the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
