Nike Golf Athlete Simon Dyson Wins the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship for Nike Golf’s 15th Global Win in 2009

Nike Golf athlete Simon Dyson captured his fourth PGA European Tour career victory and his second win in 2009 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, bringing to 15 the number of global wins by Nike athletes this season. Dyson posted four rounds in the 60’s and finished his final round with a sizzling 66 to seal his victory by three-strokes. Dyson’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship title has bumped him to the top of the European point standings for the Ryder Cup, catapults him into the top 10 in the Race To Dubai and puts him among the top 50 of the World Rankings for the first time.

Using Nike Golf’s SQ SUMO² 5900 Tour driver, Dyson’s victory marks the fourth time this season that a Nike athlete has won with a square-shape driver. Dyson has won twice with it this year and fellow Nike Golf athletes Lucas Glover and Stewart Cink both claimed their first major championship title with it at the U.S. Open and OPEN Championship, respectively. Also positively influencing his performance this past week, were his Nike VR Split Cavity irons, which he first put into play at the KLM Open, where he ultimately won. At the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, Dyson averaged 82% in greens in regulation with his Nike VR Split Cavity irons.

Rounding out Dyson’s Nike arsenal were his Nike SQ SUMO² 3-wood, Nike SQ2 5-wood and his Nike SV Tour black satin 52º and 60º wedges. For optimized distance performance and spin control, Dyson used the Nike ONE Tour D 3-piece ball. Dyson also wore Nike Golf apparel and Nike’s popular Air Zoom Elite II footwear.

Dyson’s victory furthers the global momentum that Nike Golf has enjoyed all season.
