Eleventh youth golf program is added in California
PACIFICA, CA – Total Golf Adventures (TGA), one of the leading initiatives to grow the game of golf and the only national after-school junior golf program in the country, has expanded its franchises to Pacifica, California, which is owned and operated by Chris Dawkins. This new territory, TGA of Peninsula Valley, is the eleventh TGA franchise in the state.
“We are very excited about our expansion in the state of California and continuing to work with Chris Dawkins in growing the game of golf in California while instilling life values and character development through our five-level education based program,” said Joshua Jacobs, President and CEO of Total Golf Adventures. “We are also especially proud of Chris and the commitment he has given TGA over the years in growing the game of golf and working with the kids in San Diego and now northern California.”
Dawkins has been part of Total Golf Adventures since 2008 where he was an instructor and working full time with the TGA of San Diego. While he was teaching for TGA, he was attending the Golf Academy of Carlsbad for a career in the golf industry, where he graduated in April 2008. In addition, he is currently earning his PGA of America membership as an apprentice at Golden Gate Park Golf Course in San Francisco.
Dawkins, who was born and raised in Redwood City, California, has taken full advantage of a great career opportunity with TGA, as he works towards his PGA apprenticeship following his education from the Golf Academy of Carlsbad
“I am very excited about owning my own TGA franchise in northern California and introducing the game of golf to the young people in the Pacifica area, while teaching them the life values associated with the game”, said Chris Dawkins.
“I am also very grateful for the opportunity TGA has provided me, both as an instructor during my education years, and now owning my own business as I work toward my PGA membership. TGA is a wonderful career opportunity for PGA professionals, and other teaching professionals across the country to own their own successful business while growing the game of golf.”
In addition, Dawkins has also partnered with Matthew Lacues, to help build and grow the TGA of Peninsula Valley. Matthew has been teaching for 10-years and is a graduate of the United States Golf Teaching Federation (USGTF).
About Total Golf Adventures
Total Golf Adventures (www.golftga.com) was founded in 2003 with the mission to provide all K-8th grade students with access to the game of golf through the first national at-school, after-school Golf Enrichment Program. TGA has put more than 50,000 students through its programs. There are TGA programs in over 20 states with more than 1,800 schools participating this fall across the United States.
TGA breaks down the traditional barriers of inconvenience and high cost when golf is brought to children through their schools. TGA’s five-level Golf Enrichment Program, developed by PGA and LPGA golf professionals in coordination with top PhD’s in education and curriculum development, teaches the fundamentals, rules and etiquette of golf. It also promotes education and golf’s life values through its character development initiative, “Play the Fair Way with TGA.” TGA is a USGA-approved program under the Rules of Amateur Status.
TGA is endorsed and named as the official junior golf initiative by the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA): is a national supporting organization of the After School Alliance and Lights on AfterSchool, a corporate advocate and a partner of the President’s Challenge on Physical Fitness; and is a partner with the Southern California PGA Section and Northern California PGA Section.
