Association Promotes Golf as Valuable Skill for Business and Networking
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, October 20, 2009 – Opening its membership to full-time college women, the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) welcomes students looking to utilize golf for business, networking and fun.
A deeply discounted membership fee gives undergraduate and graduate students attending college on a full-time basis the opportunity to belong to this international organization, providing numerous ways to connect with thousands of successful women in their own community and throughout the country. Applications are available online at www.ewga.com
“EWGA student membership is a wise investment for full-time college women as they prepare to enter the professional world. We believe that golf is an essential skill for women to utilize in their careers and personal lives,” says Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA. “We offer a ‘real world’ introduction to how to use golf for business and fun, and a wealth of contacts both locally and across the United States.”
Since the EWGA student membership was introduced in the fall of 2008, college women have joined 43 EWGA chapters and the connections are paying off. An EWGA student member at Ohio State University in Columbus used her access to the association’s member directory to find a job in Arizona. Other student members serve on their local chapter’s board of directors or volunteer committees, gaining experience in working with a diverse group of individuals in a business-like setting, while building their golf skills in a welcoming environment.
EWGA student membership is actively promoted through Play Golf America University, the PGA of America’s college and university program designed to teach and engage students in the game of golf through PGA Professional instruction and other golf programs. See www.playgolfamerica.com/pgau
Membership in the EWGA offers a wealth of organized play opportunities, tournaments, clinics, leagues and special events all geared toward a busy woman’s schedule. Membership includes local chapter affiliation, the EWGA’s popular web-based “Ask the Industry Expert” personal enrichment and golf education series, access to an official USGA handicap index at no additional cost, and discounts galore. Savings include golf discounts at the more than 200 courses in the EWGA Golf Club Network and special offers on apparel, travel, and a wide array of merchandise and services from EWGA benefit providers and partners.
“Our members welcome the discounts and many tangible benefits, yet frequently speak of the intangible value that the EWGA brings to their lives – friendships, fun and connections with a support network of women from throughout their community and the country,” says Swensen. “We are pleased to offer college women these same advantages to get connected through the game of golf.”
