Mississauga, ON- (October 16, 2009) -Sligo Wear Inc., makers of fashion-forward performance golf apparel, today announced its 2010 Spring line, a fresh new look available at retail partners and directly thru Sligowear.com beginning in March 2010. Continuing with their collection of unique designs, color stories and fabrications, Sligo continues to set the trends for today’s fashion conscious golfer.
Known best for its contemporary styling and performance wear such as the popular in-line O’Brien, Robinson, and Scriver men’s golf shirt, Sligo Wear unveiled five new attention grabbing, performance polo’s: Austin, Gator, Gavin, Colter and Hadden that stand along with their statement plaid trousers and shorts.
Appearing in a variety of new color-ways Crimson, Ice, McKenna, Sligo Green and marked with Sligo’s trademark progressive designs, the new polos also feature a new four-way mechanical stretch technical polyester fabric to allow for additional comfort and greater freedom of motion during the golf swing.
“This collection is definitely geared towards the player that wants to show the Sligo lifestyle both on and off the course,” says Shawn Aucoin, Sligo Wear Director of Sales. “From a popularity standpoint, we expect golfers to gravitate to the line as it will be worn by Sligo Wear staff player Brian Gay, who is known for his bold looks on the PGA Tour.”
Gay who captured victories at the St. Jude Classic and Verizon Heritage Championship earlier this year, has already been showcasing garments from the Spring collection during the PGA Tour’s Fed Ex playoffs.
Another key product introduced this year is Digitile, a new Sligo Wear design influenced by Moroccan tile dating back to the 14th century. This art form flourished during the Hispano-Moresque era and is still prevalent in Spanish and Portuguese architecture today. The process of drawing and cutting by hand combined with complex mathematical formulas remains the same as it has for centuries. Sligo Wear mirrored this same process when creating the pant and jacket which is offered in “slate” and “platinum.”
“Digitile in golf apparel is an industry first,” added Aucoin. “The complex designs invoke a historical appreciation for this beautiful art form while adding a new twist to the apparel marketplace.”
Also a first this year for Sligo Wear is the introduction of a “lifestyle” collection. Beginning this year, Sligo Wear track jackets and cotton jersey tee-shirts will be offered to compliment the golf line for the player that wants to take Sligo off the course.
Becoming a global brand Sligo is currently working with its distribution partners in the United States, Japan, China, Argentina, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Belgium, Spain, and the Netherlands.
