CMAA Withdrawing From Golf Industry Show After February 2010 Event in San Diego

October 23, 2009

Alexandria, VA – October 22, 2009 – The Club Managers Association of America is withdrawing from the Golf Industry Show at the close of the February 10 – 11, 2010, event. CMAA will proceed as planned with the 2010 show in San Diego and then reestablish a CMAA Annual Industry Show for future years.

“CMAA remains in full support of the upcoming Golf Industry Show in San Diego,” emphasizes Chief Executive Officer Jim Singerling, CCM, CEC. “We are working hard with our show partners to bring tremendous value to attendees and exhibitors. The showcase of products and services will be outstanding. At the same time,” Singerling adds, “CMAA is looking ahead to future expositions designed specifically for the club industry as it will exist in the next decade.”

Plans are under way for the 2011 CMAA Annual Exposition to be held February 26 – 27 in conjunction with the CMAA 84th World Conference on Club Management, February 25 – March 1, in Orlando, FL. The Association is committed to New Orleans, as it struggles to recover in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. As we look to the 2012 Conference and Exposition, we are consulting with Marriott to chart the course for CMAA events in 2013 and beyond.

CMAA continues to work with Golf Industry Show partners and other club industry allies on many initiatives of mutual interest. Singerling notes, “Our withdrawal from the Golf Industry Show for 2011 and beyond is not intended to affect any other potential area of cooperation. We will always collaborate on efforts designed for the good of our industry.”
