Includes Victories and Plastic Cleat Field Dominance at the PGA TOUR’s Frys.com Open, the Nationwide Tour Championship and the Champions Tour’s AT&T Championship
Brentwood, Tennessee, October 26, 2009 … Softspikes® golf cleats, the world’s best selling cleat, celebrated a weekend sweep in professional golf as the winner of the PGA TOUR’s Frys.com Open wore Pulsar® cleats, while the respective winners of the Nationwide Tour Championship and the Champions Tour’s AT&T Championship both donned Softspikes brand cleats.
In addition to capturing victories across all Tours, Softspikes dominated the plastic cleat fields as 24 of the top 36 finishers at the PGA TOUR’s Frys.com Open, 34 of the top 39 finishers at the Nationwide Tour Championship and 34 of the top 36 finishers at the Champions Tour’s AT&T Championship all wore Softspikes’ products, including Pulsar® cleats, the #1 cleat on Tour and Black Widow® Tour™ cleats, golf’s first adjustable cleat.
“This was one of our best weekends on Tour in 2009, as we celebrated both wins and total plastic cleat dominance on the PGA, Nationwide and Champions Tours,” said John Hohman, VP of Marketing, PrideSports. “To have players of every level rely on our cleats to help them win championships each week on Tour speaks volumes to the performance benefits of our products.”
PrideSports was formed in January 2003 following Pride Manufacturing Company’s purchase of Softspikes, Inc., and its sister company Trisport, Ltd. of England. This acquisition essentially formed the world’s premier golf accessories company, as Pride and Softspikes are the world’s leading golf tee and golf cleat lines, respectively. Today, PrideSports is the world leader in the design and manufacture of cleats, spikes and receptacles for the entire golf footwear industry.
