Edgy, Modern Brand’s 2010 Golf and Sportswear Collection Debuts to Strong Reviews
(TORONTO, ON) — Quagmire, the lifestyle apparel company known for its edgy, modern golf and sportswear, announces record sales of its Spring 2010 men’s and women’s collections during the last month while celebrating its five-year anniversary at buying shows in British Columbia and Alberta.
Emphasizing its light-hearted approach to fashion, Quagmire’s 2010 designs include names like “Heckler,” “Gimmee” and “Pondskipper.” The distinctive collection features an array of bright and pastel hues, cut-and-sew detailing and unique logo and pocket placement across its polos, sweaters, shorts, pants, dresses, skirts and outerwear.
“We created Quagmire for guys and girls like us,” says co-founder Geoff Tait. “The goal was to offer pieces that could be worn to either the bar on Friday night or the course on Saturday, and be appropriate in both settings. It’s about being relaxed wherever you are, and the response to the new Spring 2010 collections has been incredible.”
Crafted primarily from Quagmire’s exclusive, environmentally-friendly “Gud ‘N Dri” fabric, the 2010 collection features a variety of textures in its tops, including pique, interlock and a cotton slub jersey. Performance characteristics of these soft, static-free, wrinkle- and piling-resistant pieces include breathability, durability, fast-drying properties, UV protection and antimicrobials to provide comfort on and off the course. Additionally, Quagmire offers woven nylon, cotton stripe and seersucker plaid fabrications in its bottom styles.
“The brand has come a long way from the first season when we were exclusive to Ontario to now being available throughout North America,” adds co-founder Bobby Pasternak. “Each year we continue to broaden our network of green grass and off-course retailers, and we’ve got high expectations for the remainder of this buying season.”
Quagmire was introduced as a comfortable, trendy alternative to more traditional on-course styles. Inspired by the casual surf-and-skate aesthetic they saw while working as tour guides on a U.S. golf trip for teens, Tait and Pasternak designed Quagmire to better fit the lifestyle of the modern golfer. Operating under the idea you don’t have to be a low-handicapper to have fun and look good, the line continues to grow in popularity.
Worn by both Hollywood celebrities and Tour professionals, the brand’s “Not Fit for the Fairway,” slogan serves to characterize its combination of golf and street fashion. Retailing from $65 for some tops to $79 for select outwear, the new collection is outlined in a 52-page catalog that is currently available for retailers and media members.
Quagmire is sold at prestigious on-course shops throughout Canada, including Canadian Open hosts Angus Glen and Glen Abbey, Crowbush Golf and Beach Resort, The Fairmont Banff Springs, Fox Harb’r Golf Resort & Spa, Hamilton Golf and Country Club, Redtail and Tobiano. The line is also available at the country’s largest golf retailers, Golf Town and Nevada Bob’s, as well as Sporting Life in Toronto. Caribbean and U.S. customers include the Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma at Emerald Bay, Iron Horse, Ka’anapali Golf Resort, Olympic Golf and the Ritz-Carlton Orlando. The brand can be purchased online at www.fairwaystyles.com.
