November 4, 2009 – ALEXANDRIA, VA – CMAA and the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation®(MPLC) are pleased to announce an agreement to license the performance of motion pictures at the CMAA 83rd World Conference on Club Management to be held February 8-13, 2010, in San Diego, CA, and at other educational sessions throughout the year. This is the first agreement of its kind for an association to license its conference speakers to use motion pictures scenes. The Umbrella License® agreement allows speakers at association-wide conference sessions to use motion pictures from more than 400 MPLC-affiliated studios and producers.
“This represents a tremendous value for our Association,” says CMAA Senior Vice President for Professional Development Jason Koenigsfeld, Ph.D. “Multi-media presentations engage our members in ways simple PowerPoint slides cannot. The agreement with the MPLC allows our speakers and trainers to be more creative in bringing their presentations and sessions to life. This also ensures we are in full compliance with copyright law.”
“The MPLC is delighted that CMAA acknowledges the importance of intellectual property rights,” says MPLC Licensing Division President Sal Laudicina. “More importantly, the license will allow for the flexibility of using the magic of movies to enhance and provide a more engaging and entertaining training experience.”
