Company’s first internationally developed golf shaft under the new name sets tone for ultra-premium graphite category
FORT WORTH, Texas – November 10, 2009 – Since announcing the company name change from United Sports Technologies (UST®) to UST Mamiya earlier this year, golf’s leader in developing the world’s finest carbon fiber golf shafts has been tirelessly working around the clock on a new design with three tenets in mind: superior quality, performance and feel. With a collaborative team effort that started with the company’s U.S.- and Japanese-based design engineers, UST Mamiya today announces it will begin shipping its tour-winning (three worldwide wins to date), super high-end ATTAS International Series shafts to its worldwide network of authorized dealers starting today.
“Today, innovation by doing the unthinkable is the real key to better performing golf shafts,” explained Gene Simpson, chief operating officer for UST Mamiya. “Whether it is the latest in exotic materials or pushing the limits on manufacturing processes, we are certain that combining our operations across oceans has made us a better, more solid company for our customers and end users. And we are tremendously excited about the performance attributes of the all-new ATTAS. And that’s exactly how the name ATTAS was derived: AH-TAAS! (a Japanese exclamation meaning brilliant).”
The ATTAS International Series is designed using proprietary computer software (editor’s note: software internally is called CASA, meaning: in house) that allowed engineers to position high modulus prepreg throughout the three critical sections – butt, mid, and tip – to improve feel and performance. UST Mamiya engineers selected the highest quality carbon fiber materials made in Japan. AXIV technology visible in the new ATTAS is a UST Mamiya exclusive, proprietary process of weaving specific high-modulus carbon fibers in the critical four axis directions necessary in shaft design to optimize stiffness, hoop strength, and torsional resistance, all in a single ply.
Additionally, the constant taper design in the all-new ATTAS offers players a precise feeling of more energy release to the ball for instant feedback. The low resin content in the mid and tip sections increases number of ultra-thin carbon fibers within the prepreg plies to improve feel and allow the shaft to maintain its shape and recover more consistently for tighter shot dispersion. The ATTAS International Series is manufactured to the strictest tolerances to ensure product consistency during manufacturing process.
ATTAS International Series shafts are available in R2-, R-, S- and X-flexes; 53-99 grams (5, 6, 7, 8, and 9); 46-inch length; 0.335-inch parallel tip. MSRP: $350 USD. ATTAS shafts will be available to distributors and select independent dealers worldwide, as well as stock and custom options for leading club manufacturers.
World-renowned pros such as Stewart Cink, Davis Love III and Rod Pampling – among many others – trust high-performance golf shafts designed and manufactured by UST Mamiya.
