Youth golf program expands second franchise in Ohio
For Immediate Release
November 16, 2009
Uniontown, OH – Total Golf Adventures (TGA), one of the leading initiatives to grow the game of golf and the only national after-school junior golf program in the country, has expanded another franchise in the state of Ohio. This new TGA territory in Stark County, the second of its kind in Ohio, is owned and operated by Uniontown and Stark County native Tony Meyers.
“We are very excited about the expansion of our second franchise in the state of Ohio and our continued growth of franchises in this down economy, further proving that families and kids still want to get involved in golf when a quality structured program with value is brought to them,” said Joshua Jacobs, president and CEO of Total Golf Adventures. “We also look forward to working with Tony and the experience he brings working with kids to continue growing the game of golf in the Ohio region while instilling life values and character development through our five-level education based program.”
Meyers, who is a long-time resident of Uniontown and Stark County, comes to TGA after serving as a youth speed and agility specialist for IYCA (International Youth and Conditioning Association), and a youth and conditioning specialist for the NASE (National Association of Speed and Explosion) for youth in sports. Meyers will continue to work with kids in that capacity, but will also provide opportunities for kids in the TGA programs to learn about conditioning and agility, which is an important component in the game of golf.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to work for TGA and expanding my career of coaching youth sports and teaching golf and the life values associated with it to the kids of Stark County,” said Meyers. “I have always had a passion for teaching the game of golf and working with the kids and TGA provides the perfect platform to do this and grow the game of golf. I am looking forward to working with the kids and their families in helping to develop the future champions of tomorrow.”
About Total Golf Adventures
Total Golf Adventures (www.golftga.com) was founded in 2003 with the mission to provide all K-8th grade students with access to the game of golf through the first national at-school, after-school Golf Enrichment Program. TGA has put more than 50,000 students through its programs. There are TGA programs in over 20 states with more than 1,800 schools participating this fall across the United States.
TGA breaks down the traditional barriers of inconvenience and high cost when golf is brought to children through their schools. TGA’s five-level Golf Enrichment Program, developed by PGA and LPGA golf professionals in coordination with top PhD’s in education and curriculum development, teaches the fundamentals, rules and etiquette of golf. It also promotes education and golf’s life values through its character development initiative, “Play the Fair Way with TGA.” TGA is a USGA-approved program under the Rules of Amateur Status.
TGA is endorsed and named as the official junior golf initiative by the National High School Golf Coaches Association (NHSGCA): is a national supporting organization of the After School Alliance and Lights on AfterSchool, a corporate advocate and a partner of the President’s Challenge on Physical Fitness; and is a partner with the Southern California PGA Section and Northern California PGA Section.
