Arizona State Retains Top Spot in D-I Poll

NEW YORK, NY-The final Golf World/NGCA Division I Coaches’ Poll of the fall season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II and III, will appear in the November 30 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com beginning December 2.
Arizona State finishes the season as the number one team in the poll, earning 25 of the 39 first-place votes. The defending NCAA Champions won twice this fall at the Topy Cup and Stanford Invitational. In total, they had four top-five finishes in four starts. The Sun Devils finished with a 41-6-1 head-to-head record and a .865 winning percentage. They were also 30-6-1 versus top-25 teams.
Rounding out the top-five are UCLA (No. 2), Auburn (No. 3), Purdue (No. 4) and Duke (No. 5). Duke, which made the jump from No. 13, won the NCAA Preview to close its fall schedule.
UC Davis (No. 22) moved into the top-25, after beating UCLA and Southern California to win the Turtle Bay Invitational.
