Fairhaven, MA (December 7, 2009) – In a performance fit for a champion, the perseverance of Adam Scott paid off at the Australian Open, where the Titleist Brand Ambassador captured his first win of the year, and his first professional victory in his home country. Scott, trusting the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball and 14 Titleist golf clubs for his tee-to-green success, finished with a 15-under par 265 total, five shots clear of his nearest competitor. It marked the 14th career win as a professional for Scott, who has relied upon Titleist for his success since turning professional in 2000.
Although Scott, in his own estimation, had not performed to his own world-class standards for most of the year, he put his season into perspective following his emotional victory.
“I’ve worked really hard even though the results have not been there all year,” said Scott. “But it pays off. You’ve got to stick with it. This is very, very special to me to win here. This is going to be very sweet and something I will treasure for the rest of my career.”
Scott put Titleist’s New MB irons in his bag less than a month ago at the Singapore Open and had immediate success, finishing in a tie for 3rd place. Check out what’s in the rest of his bag below:
What’s in Adam Scott’s Bag?: Pro V1, Titleist 909D2 driver (9.5), 909F2 fairway metal (13.5), 909H hybrid (21), New MB irons (3-9), Vokey Design pitching wedge (48), Spin Milled sand (54) and lob (60) wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 MidSlant putter.
Titleist golf ball loyalists Michael Long (Pro V1x), Bryce Molder (Pro V1x) and Nick O’Hern (Pro V1) all shared 3rd place at the event, as nine of the 11 players who finished among the top 10 and ties trusted Titleist golf balls for their success. Titleist was the top golf ball choice of 115 players (73%) in the field of 156, more than 10 times the nearest competitor with 11.
WORLDWIDE WIN COUNT: With additional wins by Pro V1x loyalists Jake Roos, in a three-way all-Titleist playoff at the Nedbank Affinity Cup in South Africa, and Chan Yih Shin, at the King’s Cup in Thailand on the Asian Tour, Titleist golf ball players have accumulated 155 victories year-to-date, more than five times its nearest competitor with 26.
