ORLANDO, Fla., (Dec. 10, 2009) – Golfweek – the publication preferred by serious golfers – is releasing its annual Golfweek’s Best Casino Courses list as part of its upcoming Dec. 12/19 issue. ÌâåÂMarking the fourth year the magazine has ranked casino golf courses, the 2009 list features the nation’s top 40 golf and gaming destinations.
The top five spots on the 2009 Golfweek’s Best Casino Courses list remain unchanged from last year, with Shadow Creek Golf Course (Las Vegas, Nev.), Fallen Oak (Saucier, Miss.) and We-Ko-Pa Golf Club’s Saguaro (Fountain Hills, Ariz.) as the frontrunners. Newcomers to the list include French Lick Resort’s Pete Dye Course at No. 6 (French Lick, Ind.) and The Meadows at Mystic Lake at No. 10 (Prior Lake, Minn.), both of which represent the variety and diversity of this year’s list.
“Covering 15 states – not just in traditional casino powerhouses like Nevada and Arizona, but also up-and-comers like Mississippi, Iowa, Minnesota and New York – our list embraces the very best of casino golf courses across the country,” said Bradley S. Klein, national director of Golfweek’s Best Courses ratings program. “In an era when course operators and resort developers are looking to highlight what makes their facility unique, a place on this, the most comprehensive of all casino course ratings, should be a matter of pride.”
To produce the Golfweek’s Best Casino Courses list, a nationwide team of more than 475 evaluators rated layouts across the country on the basis of 10 criteria, including routing, conditioning, variety and memorability of holes. The result is an average of scores, which then dictates a course’s overall ranking.
