SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. – Golfshot: Golf GPS©, the incredibly popular Golf GPS and Scorecard application for golfers, was ranked the fifth-best selling app of the year in Apple’s iTunes Rewind 2009. The ranking, which came out just before Christmas, comes on the heels of Apple featuring Golfshot in numerous TV ads in the United States, Japan and Australia.
Golfshot has been used on more than 10 million golf holes since it was released on Father’s Day in June of 2009, and its popularity among golfers has vaulted it to one of the top grossing iPhone apps among more than 100,000 apps in the Apple iTunes Store.
“We’re incredibly flattered that our members helped to make Golfshot one of Apple’s Top 10 selling apps of 2009,” said Michael Hall, President of Shotzoom Software, the creators of Golfshot.
The ranking coincides with Golfshot releasing its latest version (v1.5) that provides directions to courses, how to contact courses and other course information. Golfshot also will be offered in Korean, the 12th language available for the app. Other languages include English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Japanese, Portuguese, Dutch and Swedish.
Additionally, Golfshot is now offering its “lite” version for free in the Apple iTunes Store. The app, which includes a scorecard for up to four golfers, statistics, and handicap information on more than 26,000 courses worldwide, previously was offered for 99 cents.
The Golfshot: Golf GPS© app with all features, including GPS, can be downloaded on iTunes for a one-time fee of $29.99, with no additional monthly or annual fees.
Golfshot’s GPS features include a rangefinder that shows distances to greens, up to 40 professionally mapped targets per hole, and a GPS aerial view option.
Golfshot’s scoring feature provides detailed scorecards for every course, and easy-to-use scoring that leads to in-depth stat tracking and analysis of each individual’s game and can be viewed at www.golfshot.com.
