PowerBilt® Is On The Golf Digest Hot List 2010

Legendary Citation® iron cited for “space-age technology”

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. – PowerBilt’s Citation CS irons have made Golf Digest’s prestigious Hot List 2010. These legendary irons, which were first introduced in 1956, have evolved into one of the most technologically sophisticated irons on the market featuring a thin carbon-steel face insert to create soft feel. While the clubs are designed for low to mid-handicappers, they are also forgiving with a low center of gravity and perimeter weighting. The ultra-light steel shaft by Apollo is only 85 grams (compares to 125 grams for most leading steel shafts), giving the golfer better feel and control plus greater club-head speed. The long irons are player friendly hollow backs.

“Golf Digest does a great job of cutting through the clutter and coming up with a Hot List that truly honors outstanding product performance and innovation,” says Ross Kvinge, president of PowerBilt. “We don’t have a monster marketing budget to create consumer buzz around this club, so the fact that the Citation is being honored tells us the testers saw something special in it.”

The Golf Digest review, which is in the February 2010 issue, gives the club 4½ stars (out of 5) for performance, look, sound and feel. Here’s an excerpt from the review:

The surprise of the category, the Citation CS combines space-age technology (the carbon-steel face insert and hollow-back 3- and 4-irons) with enough of a traditional look that you’d almost expect to see these irons housed in one of those orange PowerBilt staff bags from back in the day. The $500 price tag is nicely retro, too.

The Citation irons have been used over the years to win numerous PGA Tournaments including several Majors. The club is named after one of the greatest thoroughbred race horses of all time – Citation – the 1948 Kentucky Derby winner and one of only 11 horses to win the Triple Crown (Derby, Preakness & Belmont).

Plus One Sports, Inc is the U.S. licensee of the PowerBilt brand. PowerBilt is a division of the Hillerich & Bradsby Co., a family owned-company which has been making golf clubs since 1916. Based in Louisville, Ky., H&B is also the maker of world-famous Louisville Slugger bats and Bionic gloves.
