BALTIMORE, MD. – JANUARY 5, 2010 – STX, world-renowned as an industry pioneer in putter innovation, and for its patented Soft Face Insert Technology, announced today that the recently transformed 9740 and 9750 Putters are ready to ship this month.

The newly modified 9740 and 9750 Putters still resemble the highly popular 97 Series from the past but now possess contemporary lines, different finishes, as well as new shafts and grips. According to Director of Golf Steve Henneman, “Both of these models have been extremely successful at retail. We attribute that to its appearance, performance and entry level price point. These putters have been a mainstay in our line-up and it was necessary they be updated. We initially introduced them at the PGA Expo in Vegas and now we’re prepared to ship those early orders.”

The STX 9740 Putter features a traditionally styled blade head that is machined from 17-4 stainless steel, weighs 345 grams, and incorporates a fixed patented STX elastomer face insert. All three STX face inserts will be available in the 9740; the “softest” black insert, the medium resilient red insert and firmer green insert. Its clean lines are complemented with a satin finish. This heel shafted putter has heel-toe weighting, a plumber’s neck hosel, and a step-less KBS shaft, known for its stability as well as true feedback. Both 34″ and 35″ lengths are offered. A custom Golf Pride V-Rad golf grip complements this transformed putter. Suggested retail for the 9740 Putter is $149.00 and includes a custom STX collectable head cover.

Much like its originator, the STX 9750 is a heel-toe weighted putter but encompasses a unique flare neck hosel and weighs in at 340 grams. It too is machined from top quality 17-4 stainless steel and is offered in all three STX face inserts.

The classically designed 9750 blade styled head with a fine satin finish incorporates a step-less KBS shaft for a clean and modern appearance. Lengths available are 34″ and 35″. A custom Golf Pride V-Rad golf grip with a semi-pistol shape adds touch and consistency with its texture and tackiness. The 9750 Putter will retail for $149.00 and comes with a custom STX collectable head cover.

“Both of these models have received praise on the new redesign. In fact, as soon as retailers saw them they started placing orders. For those retailers and members of the media who might have missed the PGA Expo, we will have samples at the STX booth #1113 at the upcoming 2010 PGA Merchandise Show.,” added Henneman.

About STX:

STX is acknowledged as being the golf industry’s foremost authority on insert face technology. Over a quarter century ago, the company introduced the first patented soft face elastomer insert, creating the “softest legal face in golf.” In the mid-90s the company’s research and development team introduced the first USGA approved interchangeable face insert and removable weight system. Both these and other innovations have helped create the standards for putter design today.

Behind the company’s uniquely styled putter heads is Robert “Bob” Engman, STX Putters’ Chief Club Designer. A world-renowned sculptor with works in the Hirshhorn Museum, the Whitney Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, Bob is also a three-time senior champion at Merion Golf Club in Philadelphia.

When Bob blends his skills with the STX engineers, the resulting putter design is a true work of art featuring face insert technology and the ultimate in performance.
