Ryan Palmer Trusts Titleist Pro V1 In One Shot Win At Sony Open In Hawaii

Fairhaven, MA (January 18, 2010) – Demonstrating unwavering focus and determination down the stretch, Ryan Palmer trusted the Pro V1 golf ball to capture his third career PGA Tour victory with a birdie on the final hole at the Sony Open. Palmer fired four consecutive rounds in the 60’s, including a final round 4-under 66 to finish at 15-under 265. It made it back-to-back wins for the #1 ball in golf in Hawaii, as Palmer joined new Titleist Brand Ambassador Geoff Ogilvy in the 2010 PGA Tour winners’ circle. Ogilvy successfully defended his SBS Championship in Maui last week playing the Pro V1 and a full complement of Titleist golf clubs.

Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker (Pro V1, 909D3 driver, 906F2 3-wood, 909H hybrid, 755 irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled sand and lob wedges) finished solo third following a final round 5-under 65. Fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Davis Love III (Pro V1x, 909D3 driver, F3 05 3-wood, 909H hybrid, Vokey Design sand wedge Spin Milled lob wedge) was one of three players tied for fifth at 11-under.

Titleist was also first in IRON SETS with 44 players (30%), compared to 31 players for the nearest competitor; SAND, LOB and APPROACH WEDGES with 125 players (39%), more than double the nearest competitor with 55; and PUTTERS with 57 players (40%). Titleist was also second in the DRIVER category with 37 players (26%), and FAIRWAY METALS with 33 in play.

JUST THE STATS: The Sony Open champion also finished 3rd in Greens in Regulation, relying upon his new Titleist AP2 irons (5-P). The winner hit over 76 percent of the greens in regulation for the event, and 83 percent during Sunday’s final round. Among Titleist Brand Ambassadors, Davis Love III was 2nd in Driving Distance (314.6) playing the combination of the Pro V1x and 909D3 driver. Zach Johnson (T12) was 2nd in Driving Accuracy with his combination of the Pro V1x golf ball and 909D2 (8.5) driver.
