(FORT WORTH, TX) – UST Mamiya – maker of the world’s finest carbon fiber golf shafts – has named industry veteran Patrick Dempsey as PGA Tour Representative to help service rapidly growing demand from the world’s top professionals for the company’s innovative shaft lines.
Responsible for developing and maintaining player relationships and customizing equipment for top performers, Dempsey will work alongside veteran UST Mamiya Tour representative Jim McIntosh to further extend preference for the brand at golf’s highest level.
“Pat is already well known by many PGA Tour players, and his wealth of club fitting knowledge and industry experience will be extremely beneficial in this position,” says Gene Simpson, COO of UST Mamiya. “We are confident that he will be a tremendous asset to widen the gap that represents UST Mamiya’s strength on the PGA Tour.”
Dempsey – a former professional baseball player and 2002 ReMax World Long Drive Senior Champion – has been a vocal advocate of UST Mamiya’s innovative and game-enhancing shafts. As a professional club fitter, Dempsey has played an integral role in helping thousands of amateur and professional players find the ideal equipment to match their swing profiles.
“As a long-drive champion and competitive golfer, the shafts I’ve trusted over the years have been from UST Mamiya,” says Dempsey. “The company’s ground-breaking designs have helped numerous players worldwide hit longer and straighter shots, and I’m thrilled to be a part of UST Mamiya’s Tour program.”
Further bolstering UST Mamiya’s talent and to meet the heavy global popularity for its shafts, the company recently named industry veteran Michael Guerrette as Senior Director of Research and Development.
Likened to the precision of automaker Lexus, all UST Mamiya shafts are unrivaled in quality and performance attributed to world-class design engineering, premium-selected raw materials and precise handcrafted, repeatable production techniques. Tight tolerances, coupled with proprietary design principles and low-resin carbon-fiber materials enhance feel during the golf swing.
Stewart Cink, a long-time user of UST Mamiya shafts, won the 2009 British Open playing Proforce AXIVCore shafts in his driver and three-wood. Cink also plays the company’s ATTAS shaft in his five-wood.
UST Mamiya produces 35 shaft models within the ATTAS and Proforce product lines:
• ATTAS – Introduced in Japan in early 2009 and in North America last month, this premium shaft was immediately adopted by Tour players globally. Innovatively engineered with smooth-bending properties throughout the shaft’s constant taper design, more energy is transferred to the ball for instant feedback with greater distance. Ultra-thin carbon fibers optimize feel and allow the shaft to maintain its shape for consistent, accurate shots. ATTAS is distinguished by its tri-color look, notably atomic orange finish.
• Proforce – Famous for its bright gold color and contributing to multiple major-tournament victories, Proforce shafts have been UST Mamiya’s flagship since winning the 1999 Masters. The Proforce V2 incorporates the company’s original “tip technology,” masterfully balancing torque, weight, spin and launch angle for extraordinary power off the tee. The latest in the Proforce series, AXIVCore features a true, four-axis woven carbon-fiber prepreg promoting stability and control and for increased ball speed.
