New Year, Same Results As Softspikes Dominates At PGA Tour’s Sony Open

At the first full field event of the year, winner and 75% of the plastic cleat field
wore Softspikes, as brand enters 14th consecutive year as #1 cleat on tour

Brentwood, Tenn., January 18, 2010 … Softspikes®, the world’s best selling golf cleat brand, enters its 14th consecutive year as the #1 brand on the PGA TOUR, according to the independent Darrell Survey. This distinction was further validated this past weekend at the 2010 Sony Open, the PGA TOUR’s first full field event, as Softspikes earned its first victory of the year, backed by 75% plastic cleat field usage, including 26 of the top 40 finishers who wore the Company’s stable of products.

One of the golf industry’s most successful brands ever, Softspikes’ arsenal of cleats, now lead by Black Widow® Tour™, golf’s first adjustable cleat, and Pulsar®, the #1 Cleat on TOUR, has amassed nearly one thousand wins on the combined professional golf tours, while its weekly plastic cleat usage among PGA TOUR players, as reported by the Darrell Survey, consistently surpasses the 70% mark. Moreover, as competitors seek new ways to reintroduce metal spikes to golfers at all levels, despite the product being banned at more than 99% of all golf courses, plastic cleats, lead by Softspikes, continue to be the cleat of choice among the vast majority of golfers.

Additionally, Softspikes continues to dominate the #1 position in worldwide plastic cleat sales at the combined retail, specialty, green grass and off-course channels.
