Aldila Dominates Hawaii With SBS Victory; Wood & Hybrid Shaft Count Wins At Sony Open

POWAY, Calif. – Aldila opened the season with the winner and second place finisher of the SBS Championship using their RIP shaft technology in both of their drivers. “The Hottest Shafts In Golf” followed that up this week by winning the wood and hybrid shaft manufacturer counts at the Sony Open, according to the Darrell Survey. In fact Aldila dominated the hybrid counts in the first two events of the season handily winning each event by nearly a 3-to-1 margin over the next leading shaft manufacturer.

Aldila’s latest shaft technology was well represented at both Hawaiian events. Between the SBS and Sony Open, Aldila had 15 of their newest shafts, the RIP in play and 20 VooDoo® shafts. The RIP features lower torque, increased tip stability and better tip stiffness control while the VooDoo features S-core Technology designed to maximize energy transfer to the golf ball, yielding unparalleled distance and accuracy with each swing.

Using the RIP in his Driver, the 2009 Master’s Champion drove the ball well in Hawaii finishing 4th at the SBS Championship and 11th at the Sony Open in driving distance. In the first round of the Sony he averaged 331 yards and 315.5 in his second round finishing the week with a 307.0 average.

“The Hottest Shafts In Golf’ not only allow the player to drive the ball great distances but with great accuracy too. The most accurate driver at the Sony Open trusted Aldila’s NV in his driver and led the field with a 78.57 accuracy percentage, which was 31.40 percent better than the field average.

“It’s great to start of the season with the winner and the second place finisher both benefiting from the superior performance of Aldila’s new innovative technology in their drivers,” said Stewart Bahl, Aldila’s Marketing Manager. “Introduced on the Tour last season, RIP is Aldila’s latest shaft technology that provides a lower torque, increased tip stability and better tip stiffness control. After very successful testing on Tour with multiple wins, the RIP will be introduced soon through leading club manufacturers.”

Aldila continues to be the leading name in graphite golf shafts. It won golf’s Grand Slam in 2009 and was the most used wood and hybrid shafts at every Major on the PGA Tour. For the past two years it has also been the most played wood and hybrid shaft at every FedEx Cup Playoff event. Are you playing Aldila or just graphite?
