MESA, Ariz. – Dixon Golf, makers of the world’s first high performance, 100 percent eco-friendly golf ball, recently held a golf ball recycling drive at Sierra Golf Works in Mesa, Ariz., and the event rounded up more than 7,000 used golf balls that were turned in for recycling and research efforts.

Used golf balls were returned in exchange for credits for new Dixon Earth golf balls, free hybrid golf clubs and 10 percent off merchandise at Sierra Golf Works.

Returned golf balls that were in good condition will be donated to the First Tee of Phoenix, while the other golf balls will be used for research and development for recycling as Dixon Golf works toward solving the problem of the estimated 300 million golf balls littering landfills every year in the United States.

“We realize that the majority of golfers want to do their part for the environment by recycling their used golf balls, but up until now, there has been no outlet for them to do that,” said William Carey, CEO of Dixon Golf. “The response for events like this is phenomenal. It is amazing how many people have used golf balls that they simply don’t know what to do with. Dixon Golf is looking for ways to solve this problem.”

Dixon Golf is the manufacturer of the world’s first high performance, 100% eco-friendly golf ball. The Mesa, Ariz.-based company is dedicated to raising the standard of environmental consciousness and golf performance by not only introducing “Green” products into the golf industry, but by minimizing its own carbon footprint and ecological impact through various eco-friendly initiatives. Dixon Golf’s Earth ball line is made from renewable materials and is 100% recyclable, while maintaining the high performance that golfers look for in a golf ball. Dixon’s golf ball recycling program is the first of its kind in the world, and allows consumers the opportunity to get cash credits good for any Dixon Golf ball purchase, while also helping to protect the environment.
