The President Country Club in West Palm Beach, FL has scheduled a local qualifying for the World Golfers Championship for 8:30 a.m. May 2.
A pair of President C.C. members, Frank McInerney and Tony Ott, competed on the U.S. team that participated in the 2009 world finals in Marbella, Spain last fall.
The United States finals of the World Golfers Championship has been scheduled Sept. 16-19 at The Cattail and Devil’s Claw courses at the Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, AZ., a pair of “challenging, but fair” Gary Panks target-style designs.
Participants will stay at the 242-room Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino, which opened last fall just 12 miles from Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, AZ.
In the 36-hole tournament, one winner from each of the five handicap categories-0-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20 and 21-25–earn expense-paid trips to Hua-Hin, Thailand for the 16th annual World Golfers Championship, scheduled Oct. 30-Nov. 6.
Anders Bengtson encourages other golf clubs and associations to conduct 18-hole qualifying events to determine a five-player team, one from each of the five handicap categories, for the trip to Arizona.
